Please note, the visualization below actually uses more than 160 000 data points for one hourly view - this takes a bit of time to load.
We apologize but this visualization is really not mobile-friendly, please view and interact on desktop.
HOW TO USE THE VISUALIZATION
On the top of the visualization is the time of last snapshot of rates for each hotel.
Each dot is one OTA (one detected rate).
COLOR CODE
Color code for the data visualization :
***Grey*** are then all the other OTAs. You can see them name by name and value by value when you enable display on hover - via the sidebar.
WHAT ELSE IS IMPORTANT
The chart displays all the OTAs publicly displaying rates for this hotel, for every check-in date for the next six months from time of snapshot, for a standard room with two person occupancy (so some kind of baseline).
What's important is that you can see exactly, day by day, OTA by OTA, who is selling at which rate compared to others, and most importantly, to the direct booking engine rates. So it becomes easy to see that i.e. a certain OTA is undercutting you months down the line, thinking you can't catch them.
This data changes hour by hour, and you can see some pretty crazy stuff if you pay attention.
Things become interesting when you check how others are structuring their pricing months down the line. Since we don't need any technical integration whatsoever, we can create snapshots of any hotel worldwide.
Meaning you can check your competitors rates, or anyone that you know is doing a good job managing demand and pricing - the learning opportunities are huge.
In this case, we've set the data to refresh every hour on the hour. The timezone used is UTC, and the rates are displayed in USD at this time.
Generally that means that we couldn't find the direct rate displayed at this particular time for that particular date. Primary reason is that no paid or organic links could be detected on Google or elsewhere. Usually it's because either there's no availability through the direct booking engine, or the connectivity of the hotel is so poor the links got completely de-ranked. The latter one is rare but happens sometimes.
No, this is only our interpretation of the large datasets resulting from each rate snapshot. We of course can provide raw data as well, which over time shows amazing rate dynamics for many hotels, as seen in the 24h animated examples.

Animated Result of 24 h of Monitoring
-Rate Dynamics-
Using a complete rate snapshot every hour for 24 hours, we assembled the data into an animated sequence for this hotel.
What follows is the result - one of the most interesting findings so far.
In our analysis of hundreds of hotels, we found that the "big" OTAs are usually less dynamic than smaller ones.
Our unique value lies in the fact that we capture all of these small channels, and with snapshots that are incredibly fast and as frequent as needed, you can see, analyze, and react accordingly to these market dynamics.
Get your own Rate Watchdog
Some hotels now have over 50 OTAs selling their rooms...
Oftentimes more than half of those are selling under your direct rate... And you have no way of knowing when or by how much. Goodbye profitability.
"Leaky bucket" is an understatement.
